Sorry, there are no Boston or NYC bicycle shows scheduled at this time.
Why? Well, that’s a good question -- sort of a chicken and egg dilemma:
-
•The bike companies will exhibit if we provide a big crowd.
-
-
•The crowds will show up if we provide a lot of bike company exhibits.
At this time we just can’t get enough bike companies to commit. (There’s nothing quite like contacting the biggest of the big bike companies and hearing the marketing guys say, “Nine hundred dollars for a booth? Where are we going to find $900?”)
Connect that with the price of renting the halls (about $30,000 in NYC; about $18,000 in Boston -- before we spend on advertising, sales, renting the booth “pipe and draping”, staff, security...) and you can see where we’re at.
It all comes around again, and I’m hoping that in a year or three the bike companies will say, “Geez, we really need to get out there and show our products to the east coast customers... if only there was a bike show we could go to...”
Until then we’ll continue with our other cool bicycle events:
Thanks to everyone who made the shows in NYC and Boston a blast. Always glad to hear from you, always interested in your thoughts and ideas. Thanks for calling and STAY...IN... TOUCH!
Best,
Glen/president
