Driving Directions to the Babylon Check-In Location

  2.
  3. Take 495 to exit 51 -- Route 231
  4.
  5. Take 231 South.
  6.
  7. Keep going on 231 South until you PASS the Southern State Parkway.
  8.
  9. After you pass the Southern State Parkway, continue on Deer Park Avenue for 2.2 more miles. Be sure to bear right to stay on Deer Park Avenue (do NOT take 231/Babylon Northport).
  10.
  11. You will PASS Sunrise Highway, and you will pass Park Avenue.
  12.
  13.  The Babylon train station is at the corner of Deer Park Avenue and S. Railroad Avenue (a.k.a. Trolley Line Road). You can also get driving directions by clicking here.

Parking at the Babylon Check-In

There are two parking lots to choose from at Babylon:

There is one parking lot just to the west of the train station on Trolley Line Road, across from the high school's athletic field, and it is FREE. (It is also covered with signs warning you not to park between 1 a.m. and 5 a.m., and that you always park at your own risk).

OR...

If you prefer, there is another lot right next to the check in area at the train station. This is where you should park if you are leaving your car overnight. If you park in that lot, even for a short time, you MUST pay for it, or you WILL get a parking ticket. (We don't get the money -- it goes to the town. Or something.) The parking is cheap -- a couple bucks for the whole day. They have one of those electronic machines where you must buy a ticket and put it on your dash to prove that you've paid. Please note that you are responsible for paying for your own parking. (Friendly hint: bring some $1 bills with you for the parking machine. Show up with only a twenty and you’ll have to stand in line at the LIRR ticket window for change.)

Driving Directions and Parking for the Manhattan Check-In

Geez, I wouldn’t recommend it! If you MUST drive in Manhattan, you may be able to find free parking in the west 20s and 30s. There are also a couple expensive parking lots nearby. The Manhattan check-in is located at the corner of W. 31st Street and 8th Avenue, in front of Madison Square Garden.

Driving and Parking for the Finish Line in Montauk

If your picking up a friend in Montauk,  park in the free train station parking lot, and walk 150 feet to the restaurant.

For you long-time friends of the family, don’t forget that we have a new finish line this year!  Do NOT go to Ruschmeyer’s!

Our new finish line is at the Old Harbor House Restaurant, which is about 150 feet from the Montauk train station.  Click here for driving directions.
  1.
Of course if your chauffeur is extra clever, they can just drive to Montauk and then follow our bicycle route-markings to find us. As our much-missed friend Paul Sullivan used to say, “If you’re headed to Montauk you can’t miss it -- just keep driving east until you can’t go any farther. If you get to Ireland, you’ve gone too far east and need to turn back a bit.”

You can also leave your car in the train station lot overnight (at your own risk) so it is waiting for you when you finish the line. Do NOT park in the restaurant lot, or your car will be towed, compressed into a cube, and eaten.
