Howdy girls and boys.  Get ready for a fantastic cycling vacation!  When there's freezing cold slush on the ground back home we'll be pedaling where it's warm and fun.

First stop: Las Vegas!

Yes, yes... Vegas has wild lights, legal recreational marijuana, great restaurants, crazy bars, gambling, rock and roll, assorted 24/7 trouble...

BUT... did you know that Las Vegas also has terrific bike riding?

Red Rock Canyon - just outside Las Vegas. Our Day 2 adventure.

Hoover Dam - we'll ride here on a really cool no-car bike path

El Tour de Tucson

We'll ride Red Rock Canyon one day and Hoover Dam the next, with some time in between for an optional late-night pedal down the Las Vegas Strip, some great restaurants, and a stop at Cirque du Soleil.

From Las Vegas we head to Tucson for the amazing 9,000-cyclist El Tour de Tucson, with route distances from less than a mile (!!!) to 100 miles.

We are staying at the hotel closest to the start/finish. (A very hard reservation to get... and we have it!)

We'll transport your bike from Las Vegas to Tucson for free, fully assembled, in our bike truck while you fly to Tucson. When you arrive, your bike will be there waiting for you! (Pretty good trick, huh?)

El Tour de Tucson is of the greatest rides in the U.S. and we are going!

The ride features beautiful vistas of the four surrounding mountain ranges against the backdrop of the majestic Saguaro cactus.

Course profiles range from flat to rolling or moderately hilly. The 25-mile route is mostly flat and is great for families and perfect for a first-time event.

An often dry but sandy creek crossing will greet 100- and 75-milers in the foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains.

All routes offer aid stations with water and snacks about 7-12 miles apart, police support at intersections and plenty of morale-boosting volunteers and spectators. The Fun Ride offers easy and scenic routes along the Santa Cruz River part of The Loop, Pima County’s famous multi-use path.

Las Vegas to Tucson -- one-hour plane ride vs. six-hour bus ride across a barren dessert.

Yeah... we're gonna go with the plane ride...
